Nanobiotechnology & Informatics LabIIIT Allahabad

Nanomaterials that glow, kill and swim.

Dr. Amaresh Kumar Sahoo's group at IIIT Allahabad builds luminescent metal nanoclusters that image a cancer cell while treating it, carbon and metal nanoparticles that break antibiotic-resistant biofilms, and waste-derived bots that swim through polluted water.

What the lab works on

Four threads, all of them about matter small enough to act inside a living system — or inside a drain.

The group sits in the Department of Applied Sciences and works across synthesis, microscopy, microbiology and computation — much of the in-silico work runs alongside the wet lab rather than after it.
