Prof. O. P. Vyas has pursued M.Tech. in Computer Science from IIT Kharagpur and Ph.D. in Computer Networks from IIT Kharagpur in joint collaboration with Technical University of Kaiserslautern (Germany).
Associated with IIIT-Allahabad since 2002 in different Faculty positions in the Department of Information Technology, before joining IIIT-Allahabad, he worked at Pt.R.S.University Raipur, where he successfully founded the School of Computer Science and was instrumental in introducing Computer Education in Chhattisgarh region since 1992.
Prof Vyas worked at IIIT Naya Raipur as Professor(CS) and Dean(Academics) during 2015-2017 and was instrumental in structuring IIIT Naya Raipur acedemic wih novel academic paradigm of Fractal Academic.
Prof. O. P. Vyas has been active researcher and had published more than 150 research papers, three books and completed one Indo-German Project under DST-BMBF and one Indo-French project with Inria-Lille, France (https://www.inria.fr/en/centre/lille). Currently he is Coordinator of DST-RCN funded Indo-Norway project combining Cyber Security and Machine Learning approaches.
He has successfully guided Fifteen Scholars for award of Ph.D. degree whereas currently having three PhD scholars working under his Supervision.
Prof. O. P. Vyas has worked in Academic Institutes / Universities of Italy, France, Japan and Germany in different academic assignments / collaborative projects as Guest Professor / Visiting Scientist.
Prof. O. P. Vyas while being DAAD Fellow (Germany), AOTS Fellow (Japan) and EU Focalpoint coordinator under European Commission H2020, has also worked as member in many national statutory bodies like UGC Research Grants Committee, AICTE's expert committee and also worked as member of Review Committee for IIIT Bangalore and IIIT Hyderabad.

The CPSEC project addresses the “Smart Environments” theme of Indo-Norwegian collaboration and covers several topics of the theme including smart neighborhoods, sensor networks/IoT, smart grid, monitoring for safe living.This project targets the cyber-physical security issues in the energy infrastructure of smart cities. As an outcome ,CPSEC will have a remarkable effect in the smooth operation of the energy system which in turn will increase the reliability and unhindered operation of social infrastructure such as public transport, healthcare and telecommunications. CPSEC will increase the reliability of the energy system thereby increasing the trust of energy consumers in the energy system
