<h2>Wi-Fi Network</h2>

A Wi-Fi network using DWL-3200AP Access Points (AP) has been established at the campus to facilitate mobile computing and to extend network facilities to Wi-Fi enabled devices wirelessly. The DWL-3200AP Access Point provides 54Mbps bandwidth and approximate 10 number of devices (with 5 Mbps each) can be served smoothly for Internet browsing. To start with as pilot implementation, adequate number of Access Points depending upon the expected density of Wi-Fi enabled devices, have been installed at each buildings in Academic as well as Visitors area. Access Points have been mounted at suitable locations to ensure coverage of maximum indoor area.

Further, inside a building Wi-Fi LAN is a part (subnet) of existing VLAN as campus network has been segmented through implementation of building-wise virtual LANs with dedicated pool of static IP addresses. But subnet of Wi-Fi has been restricted to 0 (zero) only so that IP management and monitoring can be ensured. In general, for ease of operation a common pool of 100 IP addresses (101 to 200) have been fixed for Wi-Fi devices across the VLANs under 0 (zero) subnet.

For Internet surfing PROXY settings (172.31.1.3:8080, 172.31.1.4:8080 and http://www.iiita.ac.in/proxy.pac) are as usual with user authentication wherever applicable. IP address from other pools cannot connect to wireless network.
