<p align="jistify">The Indian Society of Vegetable Science was established in 1973 and it was registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI 1860. The Society was founded with the following objectives:<br><br> 
i)	To promote knowledge and research in vegetable crops and to advance the cause of Vegetable Science in India <br><br>
ii)	To encourage the closer relationship among workers on vegetable crops <br><br>
iii)	To encourage the development of vegetable cultivation and seed production based on scientific and technical knowledge, and <br><br>
iv)	To hold conferences, symposia and meetings from time to time for exchange and discussion of advance in knowledge of vegetable crops. <br><br>

<b>Awards and Honour </b><br><br>
<b>i) Dr. Harbhajan Singh Memorial Award</b> <br>
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; 
	The Indian Society of Vegetable Science has been pioneer in instituting the award and honour the outstanding scientists for their significant contribution in the field of vegetable research. Indian Society of Vegetable Science a Dr. Harbhajan Singh Memorial Award to commemonorate the-Founder President of the Society to author(s) of the best research paper published in the Journal .Vegetable Science., every year.

<b>ii) Best Farmer Award</b> <br>
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;
	The Society has instituted a best farmer award to be selected at national level to honour an outstanding farmer for his significant contribution in the field of vegetable production. 
<br><br>
<b>iii) Gold Medal for Best Ph. D. work</b> <br>
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;
	To encourage the young scientists below the age of 35 years in the field of vegetable science, Executive Council of the Society has decided to give Gold Medal for best Ph. D. work. The Award was sponsored by Dr. Prem Nath in memory of his late father Shri Dwarika Nath in 1998.
