	Description	Deployment of a WAN for a large Indian bank using CISCO routers and switches.

Project Work Undertaken

	Title	Firewall Development in Linux
	Description	Development of a filter-based Firewall in Linux using IPTables. This firewall will be deployed at the entry points of a network to protect it. It also included traffic shaping using TC and its integration with IPTables using the marking technique.

	Title	RPM (Rotation per Minute) Measurement through a Computer
	Description	Development of a device to record the angular velocity of a rotating object, like a fan, on a computer. This device uses the RS-232 serial port for communication with the computer. The software was developed in VB.

	Title	Intrusion Detection Systems
	Description	Design and development of an Intrusion Detection System in Linux. The IDS developed is a host based one and is provided as a kernel module. The system includes agents deployed inside the kernel for intercepting system calls and passing this information to a user-space detection engine which alerts the system administrator.

	Title	Routing in AD-HOC Wireless Networks
	Description	Modification and simulation of routing protocols in AD-HOC wireless networks using NS (Network Simulator). It included study of DSR, DSDV and AODV protocols. We also modified the DSDV protocol to include a factor for the reliability of node in forwarding packets.

	Title	Distributed Databases
	Description	Development of a distributed database integrating different departments of a company which allows the management of company information systems in a collaborative manner. The system was developed using ORACLE 9i with JSP providing the front-end.

	Title	Database Tool module in the Web-based Education project
	Description	Development of the Database Tool module for the Web-based Education project being jointly pursued by IIIT, DSIR and APTECH. It provides a very intuitive, easy-to-use interface to novices for managing all their database requirements. XML is used for storage and JAVA for the front-end.
